About the event
The Great Plains Art, Food & Maker Festival is an annual outdoor celebration in Lawrence, Kansas, now entering its fifth year. The event takes place in a natural amphitheater carved into the landscape, overlooking the lake and surrounding river valleys. A scenic lookout point at the top offers breathtaking sunset views, creating a truly special atmosphere as the day turns to evening.
Throughout the park, guests can enjoy food trucks, artist booths, and a vibrant maker’s market featuring handmade goods and creative work from local and regional makers. Live bands perform throughout the day and evening, with music carrying across open skies, water, and prairie views—an ideal setting for art, music, and community.
This festival is part of a five-year campaign to build a permanent outdoor amphitheater in the park, transforming this naturally perfect space into a long-term home for performances and cultural events. Each year helps strengthen the festival…
